How to refill your cartridges.
The method is easy . All you need is a relatively small drill bit . Ill explain.
Looking for a way to refill the cartridges , i took one from an old set and opened the
casing. First .. we will do a bit of tearing up stuff :) First the cracked shell.
Nothing special about it.

The casing will be easy to open. It's a matter of cracking the seam which is fairly easy.
I used a thin flat screwdriver. You have to cut the cartridge label on the back part.
Then the rest is a bit of force but the plastic case wont break , it will split open in two halves.
This is when you realise how you been cheated. The actual reservoir of ink is very small and
it's not a conventional reservoir either. It's a maze that is only partly filled with ink. Most of the
reservoir never contains ink ever. Also you will notice that the external part of the insert is made
of a relatively thin sheet of what looks like cello. Now that it's open , observe the ink level
indicator. When the tank is empty the indicator disappears from the " window " So first trick
you can always trick the tank using a small peice of black electrical tape carefully laid on a side
of that window.

Notice also how the ink and air flows through the maze. The cartridge appears to be filled by
a two port process.I tried removing the valves and tried a variety of ways before i realised that the
mechanism would not allow refill through them. Now observe the main section of the tank.
There's only one spot that you can drill to introduce a syringe needle without breaking the tank
Look at the side of the tank and notice there's a really small gap between the walls as seen on
the picture. You need to drill in line with that.Take that 1/16 ( about 1 mm ) drill bit and
( no need to use a drill .. your fingers should do the trick with the drill bit, if you need to , tape the
chuck end of the bit. and slowly make the hole where shown. It's very easy to pass through the plastic.
You can now proceed with the ink syringes like usual. The tank will contain about 8 cc of color ink.
Better use a 10 CC syringe with a long 22 gauge 1 1/2 needle. Fits easily.
In the next few pictures notice the level indicator's movements as the ink level varies.

Keep filling the cartridge until you reach the 8 cc. Half inch more than the above.
You probably noticed i scrapped a cartridge to make my tests and this is a good cartridge.
Once you're done filling, put a small peice of of tape to close back the hole.
If you have poster blue gum feel free to put a peice on.
Back in the casing with the filled tank.Close back .Use a drop of glue if it dont snap back in.
Which it did quite easy for me.
Job done.Filled tanks and back to printing without the astronomical price tag for what amounts to
be just a few cubic centimeters of ink.
Happy trails.
